Baked Cauliflower

Cauliflower is easy to just steam and serve with a little butter, salt, and pepper, but this is my new favorite!

  • 1 medium head cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1/4 c heavy cream (or milk -- it's still delicious)
  • 1/4 c parmesan cheese
  • Seasoned bread crumbs OR see the toasted bread crumb recipe below
  • 1 tsp garlic powder, or to taste
  • Salt and pepper to taste

dish: side
season: fall

Steam the cauliflower lightly until just tender, about 5 minutes. Place in a medium baking dish. Drizzle with cream and dot with butter. Sprinkle cheese, then toasted bread crumbs over top. Bake, covered, at 350 until cauliflower is quite tender, about 40 minutes. Uncover and brown as desired.

Toasted bread Crumbs

  • 2-3 slices bread (stale is okay), crumbled
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • Salt, pepper, and garlic powder

Place butter in skillet and allow to melt. Add oil and bread crumbs, stirring well to moisten all the bread crumbs. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent burning. Sprinkle with garlic powder, salt and pepper. Cook until lightly toasted.
